GAD Treatment Outcome Study
Friday December 29, 2006
A recent study from New Zealand (Haby et al, 2006) has made an important contribution to Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) treatment. The researchers conducted a "meta-analysis", which is done by collecting and reviewing many other studies that examine a similar topic and summarizing those findings into one large-scale result. This meta-analysis found that Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) was very effective in treating GAD, as well as a variety of other disorders. Research support for CBT successfully treating anxiety continues to grow, and these types of studies demonstrate that psychotherapy is a highly effective method to treat GAD.
