Complimentary Therapies & GAD
Sunday March 4, 2007
The BBC had a story last week about how these approaches are gaining popularity in Northern Ireland, which also discussed prefers people have for specific treatments. I am frequently asked about the benefits of complimentary therapies when working with people with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and other mental health concerns. Although there is little (and sometimes no) empirical evidence that these approaches can produce long-standing results, they are still quite popular. Overall, I think that if someone believes that treatments like massage, acupuncture, and herbal medicine are going to be helpful then they should explore the options further give them a try as long as they are generally considered safe.
