Question: What is the best treatment for generalized anxiety disorder?
Answer: A consensus has not been reached on the “best” treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). However, there is strong support that psychotherapy/counseling as well as medication can be effective treatments. Research has particularly supported cognitive-behavioral therapy for GAD, but has not excluded other forms of therapy. Furthermore, as with many mental disorders, a combination of therapy and medication often produces the best results. Read more on GAD treatments here.
