Definition: A type of medication commonly prescribed for anxiety disorders. It is part of a class of drugs called selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and is used to treat depression and a variety of other disorders. In the US it is marketed under the brand
name 'Prozac.'
